About RMG Empire
Who we are, where we operate, and how we’re different.
Does Roots Music Group work with all genres?
Roots Music Group considers artists across genres. Submissions are reviewed based on music quality, identity, consistency, professionalism, and growth potential.
What is RMG Empire?
RMG Empire is the brand name of Roots Music Group Inc., an independent distribution, management, and artist-development company. We help serious independent artists release music through major-affiliated distribution partners and build the strategy, branding, and relationships around every release.
Who founded Roots Music Group?
Roots Music Group was founded by Flow 187 (Robert B. Roots), a rapper, producer, engineer, author, and entrepreneur from Queens, New York. Read his story on our About page.
Where is RMG Empire located?
Roots Music Group is rooted in Los Angeles, with a growing presence and network in Atlanta, Miami, and New York. We work with artists everywhere.
Which distribution partners does RMG work with?
RMG artists release music through our distribution partners, including EMPIRE, Create Music Group, ONErpm, AWAL, and Ingrooves.
Is RMG a record label, a distributor, or a management company?
All three, depending on the path you choose. Artists can work with us through Management & Distribution while staying independent, or sign as an RMG Empire artist for full label backing. See both options on our About page.
Artist Development Package
The RMG Artist Development & Release Partnership: pricing, deliverables, timing.
What services does Roots Music Group offer?
RMG offers artist development, branding, marketing, distribution guidance, mixing and mastering, release strategy, booking preparation, publishing education, and other label services.
What is the RMG Artist Development & Release Partnership?
It is our signature package: a coordinated system of artist development, A&R-style guidance, release infrastructure, digital growth strategy, a creative campaign, brand building, business foundation, and opportunity preparation. Full details are on our Services page.
How much does the artist development package cost?
The RMG Artist Development & Release Partnership is $2,000. You can pay in full or start with a $1,000 deposit, with the $1,000 balance due when your assets are delivered. See Services.
How fast will I receive my deliverables?
Distribution setup is completed in 2 to 3 days, your brand development plan is delivered within 5 days, and promo assets are delivered within 7 days.
What promotional assets are included?
The creative campaign includes five promotional flyers and three short-form video concepts, plus Instagram and TikTok strategy and content planning.
Who is the development package best for?
It is built for artists preparing a single, EP, album, or a serious brand relaunch who want a coordinated plan instead of random promo.
Do I keep ownership of my music when I buy the package?
Yes. The package is a service, not a record deal. Your voice, ownership, and long-term goals stay at the center, and we provide ownership, publishing, and royalty guidance as part of the business foundation.
How do I get started with RMG services?
Submit your music through the Submit Your Music page, talk with our team about fit and timing, then begin with full payment or the $1,000 deposit. Prefer email? Contact rootsmusicgroupinc@gmail.com.
Management & Distribution
Path One: stay independent with a professional team behind every release.
What is the Management & Distribution path?
It is a monthly partnership with no label contract. You stay independent and keep creating, while RMG provides distribution through major-affiliated partners, release marketing strategy, branding tools, and management guidance. Apply for management.
Do I have to sign a record deal for management and distribution?
No. The Management & Distribution path is a monthly partnership, not a label contract, so you remain an independent artist.
How much does management and distribution cost?
It is a monthly partnership. Pricing depends on your goals and release schedule, so contact our team or email rootsmusicgroupinc@gmail.com for current pricing.
Who should choose management and distribution first?
Artists with fewer than 20,000 monthly Spotify listeners, artists not yet earning from their music, and artists still building their audience, catalog, and brand.
Can I move from management to signing with RMG?
Yes. As your monthly listeners and income grow and you meet the signing requirements, you can be reviewed for an RMG Empire artist deal.
What does management guidance include?
Release planning, marketing strategy for each drop, branding and positioning, exposure on the platforms that matter, and advice from a team that understands how the business moves.
Signing & Submissions
Path Two: requirements, the A&R process, and what signed artists receive.
How can I submit music to Roots Music Group?
Visit the Submit Your Music page and include your strongest two or three songs, a short bio, social links, streaming profiles, and available EPK materials.
What happens after I submit music?
The RMG team reviews the submission and considers the artist’s sound, image, consistency, direction, and potential fit for available services.
Does submitting music guarantee a record deal?
No. A submission is reviewed for consideration and does not guarantee acceptance, management, distribution, or a record deal.
What are the requirements to sign with RMG Empire?
You must already be earning money from your music on the platforms you release on, have at least 20,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, and show comparable reach and engagement on social media. All signings are subject to A&R review.
Is there a monthly fee to be a signed RMG artist?
No. Signed RMG Empire artists pay no monthly fee. It is a full artist partnership where RMG invests in the artist.
What do signed RMG Empire artists receive?
An artist budget invested in your music and career, label perks and priority access to RMG resources, access to our label relationships and industry connections, a dedicated team for development, releases, and marketing, and long-term career building.
Is signing with RMG a 360 deal?
RMG is built as a partnership rather than a traditional one-sided 360 deal, with an investment in the artist and a team that wins when the artist wins. Specific terms are discussed individually after A&R review. Learn more on our About page.
What if I don’t meet the signing requirements yet?
Start with the Management & Distribution path. Most great careers start there. As your numbers grow, you can move up to an artist deal. Apply here.
What should I include in my music submission?
Your strongest two or three songs, a short bio, streaming profile links, social media links, current monthly listener numbers, and any EPK materials. Submit through Submit Your Music.
Can I use bought streams or followers to qualify?
No. RMG looks for real, organic growth. Artificial streams and fake followers hurt your chances and can disqualify you from signing and catalog funding.
Catalog Funding
Upfront advances based on your streaming history, without selling your masters.
What is RMG catalog funding?
Catalog funding lets qualifying independent artists receive an upfront advance based on the streaming performance of music they have already released, while keeping ownership of their masters. RMG submits you to our third-party funding partner. See Catalog Funding.
What are the requirements for catalog funding?
At least 10,000 monthly Spotify listeners held consistently, music released on major streaming platforms through a distributor, documented streaming income from your distributor reports, and 100% authentic, organic streams.
Do I have to sell my masters to get catalog funding?
No. The funding is an advance against future streaming income, not a sale of your music. Terms vary by offer, so always review the agreement carefully before signing.
How is a catalog funding offer calculated?
Offers are based on your streaming history and distributor reports, which are analyzed to estimate future earnings. The structure you choose, such as term length and whether new music is included, also affects the amount.
How is a catalog advance paid back?
The advance is recouped from your streaming income over the agreed term set out in your offer.
What happens if I have bot streams or paid streams?
Every submission goes through listening-data analysis that can detect bots and artificial streams. Artificially inflated numbers disqualify an artist from receiving an offer.
Do I need to be signed to RMG to get catalog funding?
No. Any independent artist who meets the requirements can request an offer through RMG.
How do I request a catalog funding offer?
Send your artist name, streaming links, and distributor information through our Contact page. RMG submits you to our funding partner, sets you up with an artist ID, and helps you understand the offer. Submission does not guarantee an offer.
Artist Branding & EPK
Identity, visuals, bios, press kits, and professional presentation.
What is artist branding?
Artist branding is the complete identity surrounding your music, including your sound, story, visuals, communication style, audience, and professional presentation.
Why does branding matter for an independent artist?
A clear brand helps fans, media, venues, and industry partners quickly understand who you are and what makes your music different.
How do I create a strong artist identity?
Start with a clear sound, story, visual direction, audience, and message. Keep those elements consistent across your website, social profiles, artwork, and live presentation.
What should an artist logo communicate?
A logo should support your identity and remain readable across cover art, social media, merchandise, websites, and promotional materials.
How important are professional photos?
Professional photos create a strong first impression and give blogs, venues, media, and partners quality assets to use when presenting your career.
What is an electronic press kit?
An electronic press kit, or EPK, is a professional package containing your biography, music links, photos, videos, achievements, social links, and booking information.
What should be included in an artist bio?
Include your artist name, sound, story, location, influences, accomplishments, current projects, and the direction of your career.
How often should I update my artist brand?
Review your brand whenever your sound, audience, goals, or career level changes. Your identity should grow without becoming inconsistent.
How can Roots Music Group help with branding?
Roots Music Group can help artists improve positioning, bios, EPK materials, visuals, release presentation, content direction, and professional communication.
What is the difference between branding and marketing?
Branding defines who the artist is and how the artist is recognized. Marketing communicates that identity to the right audience and encourages action.
Why do album covers matter?
Album artwork is often the first visual a listener sees. It should support the music, match the artist identity, and look professional across streaming platforms.
What is included in the RMG brand development plan?
Positioning, image direction, visual identity, EPK direction, merch concepts, and professional presentation, delivered within 5 days as part of the development package.
Can RMG help me build an EPK?
Yes. EPK direction is included in the brand-building part of our artist development package, so your bio, photos, music, and achievements are presented professionally.
Does RMG help with merch design and concepts?
Yes. Merch concepts are part of our brand-building work, and official merch for RMG artists is available in the RMG Shop.

How can social media support my artist brand?
Social media gives fans a consistent place to discover your music, personality, process, announcements, performances, and visual identity.
Should every social media page look the same?
Your platforms can have different formats, but your name, colors, photography, biography, and overall message should feel connected.
What makes a music website professional?
A professional music website has clear navigation, strong visuals, working links, music, biography, services, booking information, merchandise, and an easy way to make contact.
How can artists prepare for brand partnerships?
Build a clear audience, consistent identity, professional content, reliable communication, and an EPK that explains what you can offer a partner.
How does RMG promote a release?
Each release gets a plan: distribution setup and metadata, a release calendar, a rollout strategy, Instagram and TikTok content planning, promotional flyers, and short-form video concepts.
Does RMG guarantee streams, playlists, or virality?
No legitimate company can guarantee streams, playlist placements, or viral moments. RMG builds the strategy, assets, and consistency that give your music a real chance to grow.
How far ahead should I plan a release?
Ideally plan at least four to six weeks ahead so you can finalize artwork and credits, pitch to platforms, prepare content, and build anticipation before release day.
Which social platforms matter most for artists right now?
Short-form video platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels drive most music discovery today, supported by YouTube and consistent posting across your profiles.
Where can I learn more music marketing tips?
Visit the RMG News & Blog for guides on release strategy, streaming, marketing, branding, booking, and the music business.
Royalties, Publishing & Ownership
Splits, publishing, masters, and protecting your business.
What should artists know about ownership and publishing?
Artists should understand credits, splits, publishing, master ownership, royalties, and agreements before releasing collaborative work or signing contracts.
Do RMG artists keep their masters?
RMG is built on an ownership-first philosophy. Service clients and management clients keep their ownership, and catalog funding is an advance rather than a sale. Terms for signed artists are discussed individually.
Why should I set up splits before releasing a song?
Agreeing on songwriter and producer splits in writing before release prevents disputes and makes sure everyone is paid correctly when royalties arrive.
Should I register with a PRO?
Yes. Songwriters should register with a performing rights organization such as ASCAP, BMI, or SESAC in the U.S. to collect performance royalties for their compositions.
