How to Build an Electronic Press Kit (EPK) That Gets You Booked
by November 27, 2025An electronic press kit, or EPK, is your professional résumé as an artist. Promoters, talent buyers, journalists, playlist curators, and labels use it to decide quickly whether to work with you. A strong EPK can be the difference between a reply and silence.
From the RMG Empire team: Strong brands get taken seriously. See how RMG Empire artists present themselves, and how our brand-building services can help you do the same.
What to Include in Your EPK
1. A Short and a Long Bio
Write a one-paragraph bio for quick reads and a longer version with more of your story. Focus on what makes you different: your sound, your background, your accomplishments, and where you are headed. Write in the third person and keep it current.
2. Professional Photos
Include three to five high-resolution photos in both horizontal and vertical formats. Photos should match your brand and look intentional. Blurry phone shots or cropped party pictures make you look like a hobbyist.
3. Your Best Music
Link your two or three strongest songs at the top. Use streaming links and a private download option for media and DJs. Do not make people dig for your music.
4. Videos and Live Footage
If you want bookings, live footage is essential. Promoters want to see how you command a stage and how a crowd reacts. Add your best music video as well.
5. Press, Placements, and Highlights
List press features, notable playlist placements, sync placements, shows you have played, artists you have opened for, and any awards. Short quotes from press are powerful.
6. Stats That Matter
Include monthly listeners, social following, email list size, and top cities if they help your case. Be honest. Inflated numbers are easy to check.
7. Contact Information
Make it easy to reach you or your team. Include a booking email, a management contact if you have one, and your social links.
EPK Format Tips
- Host your EPK on your own website so you control it
- Keep it to one scrollable page
- Update it after every release or major show
- Make it look good on a phone
- Match the visuals to your artist brand
Common EPK Mistakes
The biggest mistakes are outdated information, broken links, too much text, and no clear contact. Another mistake is sending a massive file attachment instead of a link. Keep it simple and professional.
Your EPK is also part of your wider brand. For more on building a clear identity, visit our Artist Branding & Music Industry FAQ.
