What a Publisher Does
A music publisher works on behalf of songwriters to register songs, collect royalties, pitch songs for opportunities like sync, and protect the copyright of compositions.
Types of Publishing Arrangements
- Traditional publishing deal: The publisher may own part of your songs and share income with you.
- Co-publishing deal: You and the publisher share ownership of the publisher’s share.
- Administration deal: An administrator handles registration and collection for a fee while you keep ownership.
Do You Need One?
