Research the Label
Learn about their artists, genres, recent releases, and the type of deals they offer. Know why you want to work with them specifically.
Know Your Numbers
Be ready to share your monthly listeners, top cities, social following, engagement, email list size, show history, and recent growth. Be honest and know your story behind the numbers.
Bring Your Best Music
Have your strongest songs ready, including unreleased material if appropriate. Know which songs you believe in most and why.
Have Your Materials Ready
Bring your EPK, bio, photos, and links. Make them easy to send right after the meeting.
Know What You Want
Think about your goals, what support you need, and what you are and are not willing to give up. Read label vs. independent first.
Questions to Ask
- What would you do for my next release?
- Who would be on my team day to day?
- What type of deal structure do you usually offer?
- How do you measure success with artists?
- What happens if things are not working?
Present Yourself Professionally
Be on time, be confident, be yourself, and listen as much as you talk.

Send a thank-you email with your links. Never sign anything on the spot. Review any offer carefully with an entertainment attorney, and check our contract red flags.
